The lotus-shaped memorial at dusk

The Memorial · Coming 15 August

A lotus risingfrom sacred ground.

Concept

An 83-acre offering to the fallen.

The Azadi Ki Pehli Ladai Ka Shaheed Smarak is conceived as a place of remembrance rather than spectacle. Its 25-petalled lotus crown gathers the soldiers, civilians, sepoys and leaders of 1857 into a single, living gesture of gratitude.

When the doors open on 15 August, visitors will walk a circuit that moves between stone and water, light and silence — a slow passage through memory designed to be felt as much as read.
