The flagship history gallery is structured as a long, slow walk through 1857 itself — from the unease of January, through the cartridge controversy of spring, the great uprisings of summer, and the brutal reprisals that followed.

Period letters, proclamations, weapons and uniforms are paired with audio reconstructions, so that the visitor moves through the year as if standing inside it.
